Sooner or later

Oklahoma, 40 years on from the first one, finally got a second Silver Ball win for their virtual trophy cabinet. And they did it in style, scoring 35 points in the second quarter en route to pummeling Texas Tech 65 to 21. This has, of course, thrown the BCS into complete turmoil, as the Big 12 South has three similarly scary one-loss teams, each with a win and a loss against the other two.

And how does the Big 12 sort this out? They go to the BCS standings. This feels somehow wrong to me.

Of course, there's no guarantee that the big, fast, terrifying South champ will win the title game. Just ask Oklahoma's 2003 squad.
