College Cup for College Park

Maryland 1, North Carolina 0

That wraps up a 16 game winning streak, culminating in Maryland's third national men's soccer title. For a program that has been at or near the top for a decade now, it's fantastic to bring another title home - the last being in 2005. George Zusi scored the goal, as he did in the double overtime win over St. John's in the semi final.

In other soccer news, Chelsea could only draw today against West Ham, leaving Liverpool clinging to top spot by a single point. I honestly believe Chelsea is the better team in this race, but I am hoping against hope that somehow the Reds can find themselves in front when all is said and done. It's been a long wait since 1990 for a Championship, even with three FA Cups, three League Cups, a UEFA Cup, and the greatest European Cup win in history having happened in that time. For all of that, as Bill Shankly said, this is our bread and butter. It's all about winning the league.
