Money for nothing

The (football) Giants have announced a preliminary idea of pricing for personal seat licenses in their new stadium. Short version: the prices run from $1,000 to $20,000.

The Jets, who are sharing the stadium, with be charging between $500 and $150,000.

Now, let's be clear about what this money buys you. It's not a season ticket. It's not even a single ticket. It buys you the right to buy a season ticket, at a price as yet unannounced. What this really amounts to is ownership claiming it can pay for a new stadium then turning round and gouging the fans in order to do so.

I guess it's a step up from gouging the taxpayer.
