Texas Tech just took a 7-0 lead at Kansas. This might not seem like a big deal, but in Tech's previous games this season they have suffered from an epidemic of blocked extra points. The difference this time? Walk on kicker Matt Williams, who was randomly selected from the crowd last week and kicked a 30 yard field goal to win whatever prize was on offer. Tech coach Mike Leach was impressed enough to send for Williams, and now he's the starting kicker.
Someone will make a movie about this one day.
Update: Williams went 9 for 9 on points after and made no field goal attempts in a 63 point field day for Tech.
