The Dodgers have announced that Vin Scully, contrary to reports from early this year, will return in 2011, calling all home games, and road games against the National League West.
This is wonderful news. However great or mediocre the team might be, listening to Vin Scully call a game is the definitive Dodger baseball experience.
Just as important: by remaining part of the organization in their various ways, Vin Scully, Tommy Lasorda, and Sandy Koufax still form a real link to the Dodgers in Brooklyn, 53 years later. That means a hell of a lot to some of us.
