A nearly fallen hero

Life magazine's superb photo archive has unveiled a previously unseen set of color photographs of Babe Ruth's last appearance at Yankee Stadium. The sight of the mighty Sultan of Swat, not long for this world and looking so frail, is something of a shock to the system, especially for those of us who have lost loved ones to cancer.
