Drug emporium

If Andy Reid was a player, do you think we'd be seeing him again this season? This feels like a shameless double standard. Players are supposed to be role models for fans, and that's part of the reason given for suspending people who are even associated with illegal drug use, weapons offences, and so on. Aren't coaches role models for players? I do feel for the guy, but this was all going on in his own house. That's just a little bit close for comfort in a league which pretends to pride itself on a clean image.

But then don't forget to suspend Tony Dungy. I mean sure, his son was together enough to actually successfully kill himself, but the drug use and violent behaviour was still there.

Where's the line? Why do we assume that because public figures are supposed to have an expectation of lessened privacy that they get none?

I'll concede that point. Properly speaking, this is no-one's busioness but the family's.

Mostly, I'd like to see the same standard applied for players and everyone else in the league. And I am very sure that's not the case in the NFL.

And I'm sorry it came out so bitchy... I'd just done a quick blog run through and you were the third Andy Reid reference...

I think you're right. And some day it's going to bite them.

Not to worry :) The post was harsher than it should have been, too.

I'm just glad someone is reading this stuff...
